It all started with a passion for aviation sports
In 2004, LISA Airplanes was established by Erick HERZBERGER, Luc BERNOLE, Benoit SENELLART, and Jean-François CLAVREUL in France’s Savoie region of lakes and mountains. Passionate about flying, whether in gliders or paragliders, their love of taking to the air was fulfilled in this region of the French Alps. Their first meeting, desire to develop an aviation company, and collective imagination sowed the seeds that would form LISA’s DNA.
The founders believed that a creative enterprise could take aviation well beyond a simple means of transport. In a world in which everything seemed to have already been said and done, the founders were convinced that the key to freedom lay in flight, provided that their aspirations could be combined with the necessary advanced technology. Right from the outset, they decided to focus on the human aspects of their enterprise. The diversity of the team and its considerable experience, soon revealed that the novel ideas they were bringing to light aviation went well beyond the notion of a product and altered the very concept of travel itself.
With this idea in mind, they extended their ambitions and a new form of aviation was born. Henceforth, LISA’s guiding principles focused on offering an alternative lifestyle via an entirely novel form of travel.

Moving from a blank page to the AKOYA
At the time, this vision was set out in a ten-page document. It was all the team had to go on to begin their project, which was based in Savoie-Technolac, a natural ‘breeding ground’ for an innovative company with its high-tech skills and exceptional quality of life. The founders managed to convince various institutional bodies specializing in supporting business ventures of the viability of their project: Business Angels and investment funds, high-level collaborators, and aeronautics manufacturers.
In January 2006, initial sketches for the AKOYA were executed. Eighteen months later, an initial prototype successfully completed its inaugural flights.

The dawn of a new era in aviation
At the same time, a great deal of Research & Development was carried out to develop an optimal solution for “aeronautical hydrofoils,” now called “Seafoils.” In 2011, the challenge became a reality when the AKOYA became the first airplane in the world to take off using a system of hydrofoils. One year later, the entire LISA team was able to witness, for the first time, the fruit of years of research and development during a session of the AKOYA’s trial flights on the Lac du Bourget (Lake Bourget).
The team will always cherish these moments, because the flights were both a professional and personal achievement, and certainly a source of immense pride.
The LISA team subsequently pursued its program of trials and all the operations required to certify the airplane in the Light Sport Aircraft (LSA) category, with the intention of introducing its clients to the new era of light aviation as soon as possible.

The main goal was to introduce a new form of travel
LISA’s ambitions are not confined to the AKOYA. The company’s team is buzzing with new ideas and projects. In any case, every idea is based on the development of new lifestyles.
Our innovations, creations, and services never aim to improve only one element of performance.
Increasing speed, reducing fuel consumption, and being able to land over a short distance … tackled separately, these improvements are certainly impressive achievements, but our solutions are at their most effect when they combine all these factors. None of the elements can be separated: design, aerodynamic performance, materials, and “Multi-Access” technology are the main ingredients in a recipe for an entirely new form of experience, and each of our clients will enrich this experience in their own way. LISA intends to extend its potential even further.
Each excursion becomes a unique experience
